"The mandate region is active in the cultivation of maize, potato, green grams, groundnut, wheat, sorghum, millet, dairy farming and the production of livestock feeds. At ATDC Nakuru, various appropriate technologies have been promoted over time through open days, demonstrations, field days and exhibitions. These technologies include; metal silos, vegetable solar driers, motorized potato chipper, motorized potato peeler, beans thresher, walking tractor demonstrations, manual hay baler, motorized feed mixer, motorized oil extractor, and portable maize dryer." The most vibrant value chains: maize, Irish potato and dairy farming have yielded to fabrication and promotion of postharvest technologies for maize drying and storage; potato value addition machinery; and livestock feeds production machineries. Narok County Dairy and Pasture Group, Spars Heat Crisps, Ihindu Men Shed Group , Kanyati Arising Self Help Group and Meralli potato Crisps Group are successfully operating SMEs nurtured at the station.
