ATDC Mtwapa is uniquely positioned to transform Agriculture in the coastal counties as we have experts at all levels of the most common value chains in the region namely, cassava, coconut and greengrams. SMEs in the region can benefit immensely from our Virgin Coconut Oil innovations, including VCO Machines that process Copra (Mbata), VCO processing lines, Cassava Chippers and many more. Beyond that, the station works very closely with counties to impliment Agricultural engineering and climate ressilient infrustructure like dams, water pans, shallow wells, boreholes and small scale irrigation. Priority Value Chains

The station has spearheaded the fabrication of manual cassava harvesters, motorized cassava chippers, community solar dryers and motorized millers for producing cassava starch and cassava flour. This has contributed to reducing postharvest losses in cassava and income generation. Motorized coconut graters and manual pressers have also been fabricated and promoted in the coconut value chain. The uptake has been impressive, especially among the women and youth community development organizations (CBOs) and SMEs, with products such as virgin coconut oil and animal feed being produced and sold in the local and international markets.
