History of ATDC stations
ATDCs have had national importance in Technology promotion since independence. Then, they were called Rural Technology Development Units (RDUs)
After the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution, Agriculture was devolved, and RDUs evolved into Agricultural Technology Development Centers (ATDCs)
In line with the Government Agenda on Food Security, through promotion of Agri-bussiness SMEs and Climate Change resilient agriculture, the mandate of ATDCs expanded to include Technology promotion and development, Agri-bussiness SME incubation, Climate Smart Agriculture promotion, and capacity-building of counties in Agricultural Engineering projects
ATDCs are the only National Government stations from the Ministry of Agriculture with a presence across the 47 counties. Manned by 10 Center Engineers/Station Manaagers, each station serves 2-5 counties to collectively cover all the 47 counties
